Private vs public Status

NotionFlare uses the Notion Status property to decide where a page can appear. Same source of truth; different surfaces.

• private — Off the public site. In your Knowledge Base /ask (plan post cap). Never in the official demo corpus.
• public — On the public site and in your Knowledge Base /ask (plan post cap). Official demo only if you opt into platform discovery.
• draft — Off the public site. In your owner Knowledge Base /ask (plan post cap). Never in the official demo corpus.

Why this exists

Product intent: keep operational knowledge (runbooks, member FAQs, client briefs) in Notion and answer it in chat without publishing everything to the open web.

So members can /ask a private page in a linked group, while strangers never see it on your blog, Command-K, RSS, or sitemap.

IM group corpus (ask scope)

Each linked Telegram / Discord / Slack group has an Ask corpus setting:

• Public — Inquiry / lead chats; only Status=public posts. Free and Pro+.
• Private — Paid members, customers, employees; only private/draft posts in your Knowledge Base. Pro / Business.
• Private + Public — Mixed groups that need both layers. Pro / Business.

Free accounts can link IM groups, but corpus is hard-locked to Public. Upgrade to Pro to expose Private knowledge in member groups.

Configure under Dashboard → Ask → each linked group/server/workspace.

Defaults

• Free: empty Status usually defaults to public. Free still keeps private/draft in your Knowledge Base when you set those statuses (within the post cap). Dashboard Try /ask can still search your own private posts; IM only serves Public.
• Pro / Business: empty Status defaults to private. When generating an IM linking code, choose Public / Private / Both for that binding (you can still change scope later in the dashboard).

Common questions

“The bot answered, but I can’t find the page on the site.” Status is almost certainly private (or draft). That is expected.

“I set public — when does the site update?” After sync finishes.

“Will private pages join the official demos?” No. Private and draft never enter the platform corpus.
