Getting Started
Connect Notion, test Ask on your Knowledge Base, link Telegram Discord or Slack — Search vs Ask vs demo explained.
NotionFlare turns Notion into a public site and a searchable Knowledge Base. Members /ask in Telegram, Discord, or Slack — answers cite pages you already wrote.

Search vs Ask vs official demo
Three different surfaces — do not mix them up:
- Command-K → Search — Visitors find published docs and posts by title/metadata. No LLM. No Ask quota.
- Command-K → Ask (sign-in required) — Answers from your Knowledge Base with citations. Uses your account Ask quota (same as Dashboard Try
/ask). - Official demo `/ask` — Product FAQ from NotionFlare’s public docs (Telegram / Discord demos). Does not use your private Notion or your quota.
Community /ask in groups you link is the same Ask Core as Dashboard Try /ask and Command-K Ask: your synced posts only.
1. Connect Notion
Sign in at notionflare.com, open Dashboard → Notion, and connect your workspace.
On Pro and Business, an empty Status defaults to private (Knowledge Base only — not on the public site). Set Status to public when you want a page on the web. Optionally turn on platform discovery under Settings → Preferences so public posts can appear in the official demo corpus.
Full steps: Notion setup. How edits stay live: Keep edits in sync.
2. Knowledge Base
Synced posts feed Ask so the bot can answer with citations. Test in Dashboard → Ask → Try /ask or Command-K → Ask after you sign in.
Optional: enable image text under Preferences (screenshots and diagrams; separate quota from /ask).
Details: Knowledge Base · terms: glossary. Write pages members will ask about: Write for Ask.
3. Ask in chat
Link an IM surface, then members use /ask (same Ask Core on every channel):
Channel | Setup |
|---|---|
Telegram | |
Discord | |
Slack |
How answers cite Notion: How /ask cites sources. Public vs member corpus: Private vs public.
Pro fits smaller groups; Business is built for larger communities with higher /ask quotas. Free can still run Public-only IM /ask for inquiry FAQs — see Pricing FAQ.
5-minute checklist
- Connect Notion and confirm sync under Dashboard → Notion.
- Set at least one page to a Status your plan can index; wait for sync (or Sync now).
- Open Try /ask (or Command-K → Ask) and ask a question that appears in that page — confirm Sources point at it.
- Link one Telegram, Discord, or Slack surface and run
/askonce in the linked room. - Optional: turn on platform discovery only if you want public posts in the official demos.
